Another high-powered 5000W-class LED fixture has been unveiled, marking the second announcement of its kind this month. Aputure has introduced the STORM XT52, a 5200W tunable white point-source light featuring the company’s BLAIR light engine. First previewed at the BSC Expo in London, the fixture will be fully announced at the NAB Show in April.
It didn’t take long for another brand to challenge the latest 5000W-class LED fixture, with a new contender now entering the competition. Aputure has introduced the STORM XT52, a 5200W tunable white point-source light, shifting the rankings in the brightest COB LED category. First previewed at the BSC Expo in London on February 14, the fixture is set for a full announcement at the NAB Show in April, where more details are expected to be revealed.
Like the STORM 1200x released last year, the STORM XT52 features Aputure’s BLAIR light engine, designed to deliver a wide CCT range from 2500 to 10 000 K with full ±100% green adjustment. The fixture achieves 48 000 lux at 5 meters with a 35° reflector and offers a 10 000:1 dimming ratio, adjustable down to 0.01% output. With an output comparable to 9000 W HMIs, the XT52 incorporates an advanced cooling system and a structural design that keeps its size and weight manageable.
Despite its power, the XT52 remains the smallest and lightest in its class – as far as “small” and “light” can go in that case. The lamp head is designed to be lifted by a single person and mounted on a standard crank stand, while the control box, roughly the size of a briefcase, is built for portability. More details, including availability, are expected to be revealed during its official launch at NAB.
