The weatherproof X series from Harlowe just got two new additions: the Mini Max-X and Avant Max-X. These bi-color lights blend the brand’s signature retro design with IP54 water resistance and reliable performance in extreme temperatures. With a magnetic mounting system for modifiers and app control, they aim to meet the needs of style-conscious creators.
The Mini Max-X and Avant Max-X are essentially weatherproof versions of the Mini Max and Avant Max lights introduced in July last year. Both new models maintain the familiar Harlowe look, but– just like the Mini-X–feature a sky blue finish, likely to visually signal their waterproof capabilities. These bi-color COB LED lights are rated at 40 and 80 W, respectively, and come with IP54 rating, making them resistant to rain and snow. They’re also designed to handle extreme temperatures, performing reliably in conditions as cold as -30°C or as hot as 40°C.
Beyond their weatherproof build, the Mini Max-X and Avant Max-X come equipped with features like app control, an NFC connection, and a proprietary magnetic mounting system for modifiers. Each light is powered either by an AC adapter or the included 99 Wh V-mount battery, which offers fast charging, multiple output options, and IP65-rated protection. While these additions make them ideal for outdoor shoots, their design and functionality also ensure seamless operation in a variety of settings.

Magnetic mounting accessories, including barndoors, frosted domes, and color gels, enhance adaptability, seamlessly fitting the needs of various creative setups.

The Mini Max-X and Avant Max-X are priced at $999.00 and $1099.00 (!!!) respectively for the US market, excluding taxes. Unlike previous models, which were available as a basic kit without accessories, both lights are now sold exclusively as Creator Kits, including all the additional accessories. While no specific timeline has been announced, availability in Europe may take some time.
